LowProfile closure with a flatter shoulder
With the relaunch of the "Simple" brand, the worldwide renowned brand owner Unilever decided to make the product series more sustainable. The tubes for the new Simple moisturising facial wash are produced by EPL Germany. The wall thickness of the classic PE tube was reduced from 480 to 400µ and a LowProfile closure with a flatter shoulder was chosen to further reduce the weight. The total saving of the 150ml tube in the new version compared to the previous tube (with standard closure/bounce shoulder and full wall thickness) is about 6g. But environmental considerations were also kept in mind when it came to the tube's appearance and design. The design, which is printed in an offset screen combination, comes across as very tidy and discreet, which also minimizes contamination during recycling. And this in no way detracts from the visual appearance. The restrained design leaves room for the green tones, which harmonise well with each other, and conveys the environmental theme unobtrusively but effectively. The purist white of the tube body stands for the product’s promise of purity. This tube is another step for Unilever and the tube producer to meet their ambitious sustainability goals and to continuously reduce the use of fossil, virgin plastic.
